Welcome to Simsbury High School, home of the Trojans!
Simsbury High School is a comprehensive high school with a long-standing tradition of excellence. Our students benefit from an impressive variety of academic, athletic, and extracurricular offerings, and close connections with staff members that are truly dedicated to their success. Our Core Values and Beliefs of Preparation, Passion, and Personal Growth serve as steadfast reminders that our goal is to connect students with their passion, help them to grow as individuals, and to prepare them for success in a rapidly changing world. We believe that our commitment to these principles coupled with the unsurpassed quality of our teachers and coaches results in a truly outstanding educational experience.
As you review our SHS Program of Studies (under the "Documents & Links" tab) you will find that our academic, athletic, and extra-curricular offerings are incredible. The broad scope and depth of our programs provides our students with a high degree of personalization and challenge to teach students to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow with confidence and integrity.
The Trojan Code outlines our positive behavioral expectations for the members of our learning community. By being Honorable, Respectful, and Responsible we are prepared to do our best work today, and poised to develop the character attributes and habits of mind that will ensure our continued success in the future.
Please feel free to contact us at any time for more information or to arrange for a tour of our campus.
Sincerely,
Maggie Seidel

Reporting a Full Day Absence
To report a student’s full day absence from school, a parent/guardian should notify the school by emailing the attendance inbox before 9:00 a.m. An email that contains the information below will serve as absence notification for a “parent excused absence”; a handwritten note is not needed.
Please include:
- student’s full name
- grade
- reason for absence
- date
- daytime phone number where a parent/guardian can be reached to verify the email or note if needed
If email or written notification from a parent/guardian has not been received, the absence will remain “unexcused”. In addition, the assistant principal’s office will continue to contact the family and student to acquire proper documentation. Students may receive a consequence for failure to do so. Students who miss school for an excused absence have two (2) days to make up work, unless an alternate plan has been made with the teacher. The Simsbury Public Schools reserves the right to randomly audit email documentation received to determine its authenticity.
For late arrivals and the complete Attendance policy please refer to the Student/Parent Handbook.
Attendance Email Address:
- Simsbury High School - shsattendance@simsburyschools.net
-
Any student who needs to be dismissed early must bring written notification (appropriate appointment notice, note from a parent/guardian), or an email sent to shsattendance@simsburyschools.net to the attendance office no later than 9:00 a.m. The student will be given an early dismissal pass. At the time stated on the pass, the student should report to the attendance office to be signed out.
If the student is returning to school, they must provide verifiable documentation to the attendance office to re-enter the building after their appointment. Verifiable documentation includes a note from a medical professional (this includes the SHS Nurse’s office), police summons, note from an officer of the court, documentation from a college visit, DMV appointment, or other official written documentation. If a student is unable to provide verifiable documentation for why they left, disciplinary action will be taken. This will impact a student’s ability to participate in after school sports and activities. Please note - a parent/guardian note, without SHS employee approval, is not considered verifiable documentation.
All students in grades 11-12 who have a free period at the start of the day during session 1 (7:32-8:29) or at the end of the day during session 6 (1:13-2:10) are allowed, with parental permission, to come to school late or leave early. Please review your child’s schedule and complete a “Permission to Arrive Late or Leave Early” form that can be found in the AP office and the Main office.
As a closed campus, SHS does not allow students to leave school grounds during sessions 2-5 (8:33 a.m. - 1:09 p.m.) and return to class and extracurricular activities without verifiable documentation. Leaving for food or beverages during an open study, study hall, or scheduled lunch period is not permitted and will result in disciplinary action. For more information, our complete attendance policy can be found in the Student Handbook.

Important Message About the Alumni Directory
(posted April 19, 2021) We recently launched a comprehensive data verification project for the benefit of our students, our school, and our alumni. Alumni serve many valuable roles, such as helping to build and grow an institution and to provide mentoring, internships, and career opportunities to students. The purpose of this new directory is not only to reconnect with alumni but to allow alumni a chance to give back and help SHS to become an even better place.
We are working with a company called PCI (Publishing Concepts, Inc.) who have taken the lead in collecting your updated contact information. You may receive a postcard or email so please know that this is a legitimate company that we are working with. You are under no obligation to provide information. This project simply provides us with an opportunity to share information with you in the future about Simsbury High School. However, if you are interested in purchasing an alumni directory or other items, please respond to the inquiry from PCI and feel free to ask about their different option plans available. You are under no obligation to make a purchase.
For more information or answers to questions, please refer to these PCI FAQs.
