Student Registration

We are currently accepting registration for the 2026-27 school year.

 2026-2027 Student Pre-Registration

Please contact  Laura Shellman, Enrollment Coordinator, at 860-323-8140, or by email at lshellman@simsburyschools.net to begin the registration process for the  2026-2027 school year. We will ask for a small amount of preliminary information so we can plan on your child(ren) while you are completing the registration process. If you received a kindergarten welcome letter by mail, you do not need to contact the Enrollment Office, as we already have your child on our eligible list.

Your child is not considered registered until all documentation has been completed and submitted to the Enrollment Office. Please do not submit the Release of Records form (not used with first time incoming kindergartners) to your child's current school; we will take care of sending for records and we want a copy of the release in our files. Documents should be returned to the Enrollment Office in any of the following manners:

  • Uploaded here using links found in any of the first three blue tabs below. Documents must be scanned and saved as PDF files; photographs of documents will not be accepted. Size of documents uploaded on this site cannot exceed 10MB per file.
  • Attached documents by email. Documents must be scanned and saved as PDF files; photographs of documents will not be accepted. Total size of all emailed files combined cannot exceed 10MB.
  • Fax
  • Postal mail
  • In person at the BOE offices

We look forward to your family joining us!

Documentation

Proof of Residence (select one of the following three options). Proof of residence can be submitted once per family, not per student.

  • Copy of a recent Purchase Contract, dated within 90 days of your child's start in Simsbury Schools, for the purchase of your home in Simsbury.
  • Copy of a current lease agreement for your rental home/apartment in Simsbury.
  • One copy each of a current utility bill (dated within 60 days) from two different utilities in your name and showing services provided at your Simsbury house/apartment address. Accepted utilities include electric, water, oil, natural gas, cable, or land-line phone (a cell phone bill will not be accepted).

Birth Certificate copy for each student you are registering. We will need the full certificate, not the wallet-size card. If you are missing yours, certificates can be obtained in either the town where your child was born, or in the town where the mother was residing at the time of the child's birth.

Release of Records Form. Please select the Release of Records Form for the school your child will be attending. The completed form should be submitted along with your other registration documents. Our school office will take care of requesting the records from your child’s current school. Note: this form requires a physical signature, as opposed to an E-signature.

Special Services. If your student receives Special Services at his/her current school, please provide a copy of their latest IEP or 504 Plan.

Medical Requirements & Forms

Proof of Physical and Immunizations per the  State of Connecticut Requirements. Parents/guardians need to fill out page 1 of the State of CT Health Assessment Record; your physician will fill out page 2-3. Physicals must be dated within 12 months prior to the start of school in Simsbury. If their last physical is older than 12 months, a new one will be required before your student can start. All items on the form with an asterisk are required by the State of CT for entry into school.

Students entering from another Connecticut school can obtain their proof of physical/immunizations from the student's previous school or from your physician.

Students entering from out of state do not need the physical completed by a CT physician, but the CT State Health form needs to be filled out by your physician based on an up-to-date physical. Immunizations must be current as required by the State of CT for school entry.

Students entering from outside of the U.S. must have a physical done by a U.S. physician prior to entry into school, and the CT Health form must be filled out with the results of that physical. Immunizations must be current as required by the State of CT for school entry.

For students participating in interscholastic sports at Simsbury High School, please contact the High School Athletic Office at 860-658-0451, option 3, for additional physical requirements.

  • Preschool Census

If you have a preschool age child(ren) in your home, please help us by answering this census. This will enable us to determine our Kindergarten enrollment for the 2026-27 school year, and will also give us an idea of our up-and-coming kindergartners for the following years. You may enter your data at any time during the year, but only up through January 10, 2026 if your student is eligible to enter kindergarten in the Fall of 2026. After January 10, 2026, please call the Enrollment Office at 860-323-8140 to be sure your child is included to receive registration information for August, 2026.

  • Preschool Registration for The Children's Academy of Simsbury is managed through the Department of Continuing Education. For more information, call DCE at 860-658-3870 or visit the Children's Academy website.

Magnet School Registration is managed by each magnet school. Upon registering your child at a magnet school, you will be given a Residency Verification form by that school to "register" your Simsbury proof of residency with the Board of Education offices, 933 Hopmeadow St. Please stop by the Assistant Superintendent's office with your form and your proof of residence (sales contract for a newly purchased home, current rental lease, or two current utility bills showing your name and address). For more information on the schools, please follow the links below.

  • School District Assignments can be determined for the elementary school your child will attend by locating your street on the Street Listing.  All Simsbury students attend the same middle school (grades 7-8) and high school (grades 9-12).

  • You are encouraged to call the school your child will be attending to discuss any questions you may have.
