Grade 6 students wait outside to begin procession for the grade 6 ceremony to begin.

Grade 6 students anxiously wait outside before beginning the procession to the Grade 6 Promotion Ceremony led by Principal Meg Evans and Assistant Principal Nancy Forsberg.

Simsbury Cultural Enrichment Committee brought FriendzWorldMusic to perform at each of the elementary schools. The multifaceted group of musicians, composers, entertainers, and educators with diverse backgrounds. They are professional experts in various music and dance styles, including West African, Afro-Caribbean, calypso, jazz, hip-hop, fusions and much more. They make it their mission to pay homage to their ancestors. Each performance is lively, and engaging.

Author and illustrator Lizzy Rockwell draws a picture of a pond for students

Children's author and illustrator, Lizzy Rockwell, visited with K-3 students and explained how she draws pictures for her books. Ms. Rockwell read her book, Am I a Frog? to the group, drew a picture of a pond, and placed items in the drawing based on suggestions from the audience.

 

Preschool students take advantage of a warm November morning to enjoy a snack and storytime outside in the sunshine.

Principal Evans enjoyed visiting classrooms to remind students how we SHINE at Squadron Line and sharing the book The Circles All Around Us by Brad Montague.
