First Practice of Fall 2025:
August 18, 2025, at 5 PM. Meet at the entrance to the track (Holden Field).

Practices August 19-26, Monday-Friday, are at 5 PM.

Beginning the first day of school, practices will be Monday through Friday at 3:00 PM and Saturday mornings (times TBA).

• If a team member must miss a practice, that team member must contact Coach Petersen BEFORE the missed practice to inform him of the absence, unless we discuss part time school schedule in advance.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

First Practice:

Monday, 8/18 at 5:00 pm. We will meet at our usual big tree near the back parking lot.

Requirements:

Come to practice prepared every day

Participate in all meets and invitationals

Try hard, stay positive, and be ready

If these requirements are not fulfilled, the coaching staff reserves the right to hold an athlete from competing in meets or remove an athlete from the team

What you need:

Watch with timer ($10 at Walmart etc.)

*If an athlete cannot make practice, that athlete must inform the coaches prior to missing otherwise the athlete will not be eligible to participate in upcoming meet

INFORMATION

Field Hockey season is right around the corner! Below will find the preseason schedule and the tryout expectations. 

• Tryouts begin on Monday, August 18th from 2-4pm. We will start on the track with the timed mile- make sure to bring sneakers. There will be time to change into other shoes for the turf if needed. 

• All of the scrimmages will be varsity candidates only. I will communicate who will attend these scrimmages. Varsity practices on the weekends and holidays, JV does not.

• Reversible pinnies will be provided for tryouts

• Make sure your paperwork is complete and submitted to the athletic office before tryouts — otherwise, you will not be permitted to participate

• Summer session is still happening and you can drop in once registered. Mondays at 4:30!

The Simsbury High School unified sports program is a co-ed team that participates in three sports during the course of the year... soccer and flag football in the fall, basketball in the winter, and volleyball and track in the spring.

Unified Sports® is a registered program of Special Olympics that combines approximately equal numbers of athletes with and without intellectual disability on sports teams for training and competition. All Unified Sports® players, both athletes and special partners, are of similar age and matched sport skill ability. Unified Sports® teams are placed in competitive divisions based on their skill abilities, and range from training divisions (with a skill-learning focus) to high level competition.

The team practices one day per week and competes at various tournaments throughout the school year.
