Dear Parents and Members of the Simsbury Community,

This past week as spring sporting events began some of you were surprised to find that Simsbury varsity athletic events beginning at 6:00 pm or later are charging an admission fee. I apologize for any undue stress or confusion if you came to support the teams and were unaware of this policy. This is not a new policy that has been enacted this year. I have verified that this has been in place and has been enforced, though not consistently, in the past. This policy has been consistently enforced during the fall and winter seasons across all varsity teams where Simsbury was the host after 6:00 p.m., regardless of sport or gender. The money made from this admission fee goes first and foremost toward supporting the athletic event that you are attending since there is an increased cost in running events under the lights at any venue. Any additional proceeds go towards supporting all athletic programs at Simsbury High School. The cost for attending varsity events after 6:00 p.m. is $5 for adults and $3 for children age 13-18. Any child under the age of 12, senior citizen, or military veteran will be allowed in free of charge. Any family of a coach at that particular event will also be allowed in free of charge as a thank you from our family to theirs for encouraging their family member to spend so much time working with the young people of Simsbury in a positive manner. The Athletic Department is happy to offer all sports-all season passes at a discounted price of $30($50 in the fall and winter) for an individual or $65 for an entire family (two adults and up to four children) for the spring season this year which includes any regular season varsity event (all sports). To purchase a season pass please contact the Athletic Department at Simsbury High School or see one of the gate workers at an event. It is the intention of the Athletic Department to encourage all members of the community to remain involved in supporting all of the Simsbury Athletic teams and I hope that you will continue to support the student-athletes at Simsbury High School.

Sincerely,

Jeff Pinney

Director of Athletics & Student Activities

Danny Deitz Honored with Michael H. Savage Spirit of Sport Award

I am pleased to announce that Danny Deitz has been chosen as the CIAC Michael H. Savage Spirit of Sport award winner for 2017. Danny had a heart transplant in September of 2015, and was told he would never play sports again. Danny did, however, play football for Simsbury High School during the recently completed football season. His is a remarkable story of resilience, courage and willpower.
