Sign Up Now for Summer Crew Camp

Summer Crew Camp is a great opportunity if you're interested in learning hands-on about the exciting sport of Crew!  Students entering grades 7 through 9 are encouraged to register for the Middle School Camp sessions being offered this July at the Simsbury Crew Boathouse, located off of Drake Hill Road. Led by Simsbury High School Crew Coaches Ann Carabillo and Amy Miranda, crew camps are geared for beginners as well as advanced beginners and will introduce participants to the fundamentals of the sport of rowing.

For those who have previous rowing experience and are entering grades 10 through 12, there are intermediate level crew clinics and conditioning clinics to choose from. These are fantastic opportunities to continue skill development and to work on strengthening and conditioning in preparation for the Fall rowing season.

Live Streaming of SHS Games!

Mr. Pinney is excited to announce that we are live-streaming sporting events from the turf (Holden Field) and from the Gold Gym! You are able to view these games only with the creation of an account at https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/. This platform does have a cost associated with it and is good for any of our home games in either of these locations as well as any away game in a school that uses the same platform, such as Enfield or Glastonbury. Once you log-in search for Simsbury High School in the search bar, select the game that you wish to view and enjoy the show. One of the best things about this new platform is that it is available nationwide so please share the link with others and let them enjoy watching your children play sports too.

CAPSTONE PROJECTS - ATHLETICS

College Athletics Recruiting Podcasts
by Travis Bolognese and Jeferson Leon Cardozo

Creating a Workout and Nutrition Guide
My name is Mikayla Wetjen. I’m currently a senior at SHS, and I’m a dedicated student athlete. I’ve been playing my sport, field hockey, for about five years, and I’m committed to play the next four years at Skidmore College. Recently, I developed a Capstone project on creating a workout and nutrition guide for underclassmen athletes who either want to potentially play at the collegiate level, or at a higher level in general. I then put this on a website that can be shared with anyone who feels like they would benefit from it! I developed the guide to not be sport specific, so it can be used by multiple sports. I also made it very simple so it could be used by itself, or as a guide to create a more detailed plan. I would greatly appreciate any feedback you have, please share this with the athletes on your teams if you think it could be beneficial. Thank you so much for your time and consideration!
